Amongst all the huge sporting events taking place Cardiff is seeing plenty of new restaurants, cafes and businesses open of late. It seems as though every week we’re ranting and raving about the next newbie, bringing its own proposed offering to this fine city of ours. Here’s a useful little list for you to try this weekend.

Dough Thrower

Cardiff has a deep love affair with pizza and adding to our pizza passion will be the new Dough Thrower.  They have been serving pizza for a number of years from a pizza van in Ogmore-by-Sea called The Surf Shack Bay and now they take the leap from pizza van to pizza restaurant.

Located on Cowbridge Road East, chief dough thrower Ben will be serving neapolitan pizzas at their new cosy home from a very impressive copper wood burning pizza oven called Bruce.

They have a special preview event on Wednesday 13th but the general opening date will be the 17th June

As well as quality local produce, the finest coffee and food to satisfy all palates, Caffi Sïo will also bring independent Welsh artisan excellence to the heart of Cardiff Bay and a flavour of it’s unique artistic programme….. Crazy Cafe

Ok this isn’t Cardiff but it is well worth making a trip over the barrage to Penarth to Crazy Cafe, the new bakery and wine bar on the Esplanade. Part of the £8,000,000 Beachcliff complex development by the Richard Haywood Group (that is also home to James Sommerin) opened a few weeks back and has been attracting customers with it’s graffiti interior and open bay windows, on sunny days they pretty much make it an open air cafe and bistro, perfect for a summer stroll along the seafront.
