New Concrete Skatepark Opens in Pentwyn

East Cardiff is now home to a brand new skatepark as a major new facility officially opened in Pentwyn this weekend. Located next to Pentwyn Leisure Centre, the newly built concrete park replaces the former site that had served local skaters for years.

This is the third purpose-built concrete skatepark in Cardiff and is part of the city’s wider Skateboard Amenities Strategy, a council-led initiative developed in collaboration with international skatepark experts Van de Zalm and New Line Skateparks and built by wheel scape

The new space is designed to cater to all ages and abilities, with features that include quarter pipes, flatbanks, rails, slappy curbs, a manual block, hip, and a bank-to-ledge. It’s a versatile layout aimed at supporting both beginners and more experienced riders across different skate styles.

The investment reflects Cardiff Council’s commitment to growing the local skateboarding scene, offering safe and inclusive public spaces for young people to develop their skills and connect with others in the community.

With the sport continuing to gain popularity—particularly since skateboarding was introduced to the Olympics—Pentwyn Skatepark is expected to become a buzzing hub for skaters in East Cardiff and beyond.
