Metallica Are Finally Coming to Cardiff – Principality Stadium to Host One of Rock’s Biggest Bands in 2026
Heavy metal giants Metallica have officially announced they’re bringing their colossal M72 World Tour to Cardiff for the very first time – and fans can catch them live at the Principality Stadium on June 28, 2026.
Part of an extended run of shows for what is now the tour’s fourth year, the band’s record-breaking M72 World Tourhas already played to over four million fans around the world. The Cardiff show will mark one of the few UK single-night stadium performances next summer and promises the full Metallica live experience – including their massive in-the-round stage production.
Tickets for all 2026 dates, including the Cardiff stop, go on general sale Friday 30th May at 10am via LiveNation.co.uk. Fan club pre-sales begin May 27 at 11am, with Mastercard cardholders given access to preferred tickets on May 30 at the same time via priceless.com/music.
Support in Cardiff will come from Gojira and Knocked Loose, with the gig expected to deliver the sheer volume, energy, and scale Metallica are famed for.
Since kicking off in April 2023 in Amsterdam, the M72 World Tour has been hailed by critics as “life-affirming” (Billboard), “triumphant” (Kerrang!), and “a stone-cold stunner of a show” (Detroit News). The tour features the band’s signature “No Repeat Weekends” at select cities – with two completely different setlists over two nights – though Cardiff will host a single blockbuster night as part of the tour’s UK leg.
Produced by Live Nation, the M72 tour also supports local communities through Metallica’s ‘All Within My Hands’ foundation, which has raised over $20 million for education, food relief, and disaster response since 2017.
For Welsh fans, this long-awaited Cardiff date is a landmark moment, marking Metallica’s return to the country – and their first-ever show at the Principality Stadium. Expect pyrotechnics, pounding riffs, and a night of pure rock fury in the heart of the capital.
