Indie Rock band The Big Moon to Support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Mercury-nominated, indie four-piece The Big Moon will join Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds when they headline Cardiff Castle this summer.

Fresh from the success of highly acclaimed new album Council Skies – British music icon Noel and his band will play the Welsh capital’s stunning venue on Wednesday July 17.

And it is announced today that they will be supported by indie rock band The Big Moon.

Made up of Juliette Jackson (vocals), Soph Nathan (guitar), Celia Archer (bass), and Fern Ford (drums), The Big Moon released their third album Here is Everythingto critical acclaim towards the end of 2022 and packed last summer with performances across the UK festival calendar.

They also visited Cardiff for a sold out show as part of the Llais Festival in October and will now return to the city for their biggest Welsh date.

Noel played an unforgettable sold-out show at Cardiff Castle in 2019 – and his return this summer will delight his army of fans. With a set of songs that includes a wide selection of Oasis classics as well as featuring a cross section of material from the past dozen years of his highly successful career as a solo artist.

As a founding member and the principal songwriter of British music legends Oasis, Noel Gallagher has sold more than 70 million records, including the band’s generation-defining albums Definitely Maybe and What’s The Story Morning Glory?

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds highly anticipated fourth studio album, Council Skies, was released last June. From the evocative album title to the cover art, and the lyrics themselves, it saw Noel bringing a more personal perspective and paying homage to his Mancunian roots. 

The album, which includes the singles Pretty Boy, Easy Now, Council Skies and Open The Door See What You Find, is Noel’s most varied and accomplished solo record to date and its release was met with global critical acclaim.

The headlining show for TK Maxx Presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle is presented by promoters DEPOT Live and Cuffe and Taylor.

Sixteen dates have been announced so far for this summer’s TK Maxx Presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle.  US alt rockers The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezerwill kick off the shows on June 14 and are followed by indie music legends Manic Street Preachers and Suede who will play two consecutive sold-out co-headline shows, as well as award-winning giants Catfish and the Bottlemen who will also play two consecutive sold-out shows. The bill will also see British rockers Nothing But Thieves, and British rock band IDLES, along with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying BirdsAvril LavigneJLS, Tom Grennan, Madness, Rick Astley, Crowded House, The National and Paul Heaton with more to be announced.

For the first time, TK Maxx will join Depot Live as presenting partner, as part of a new agreement with Cuffe & Taylor shows across the country.
