Huge New Indoor Padel Venue Opening in Cardiff Bay

A major new padel venue is about to open in Cardiff, bringing eight indoor courts and a full lifestyle space to the city as the sport continues its rapid rise in popularity.

Padium, opens on 14th March at Cardiff Bay Retail Park, taking over a huge 35,000 sq ft space designed to combine high-performance sport with a social and wellness experience, this is more like a health club than padel courts.

Padium is already one of the most recognised names in UK padel, with a flagship venue in Canary Wharf in London. The Cardiff opening marks the company’s first expansion outside the capital and into Wales, adding a boost to a sport seeing considerable popularity.

Padel has quickly become one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Often described as a mix between tennis and squash, it is easy to pick up, social to play and works well for players of all abilities. With more people getting involved across the UK, the demand for high quality courts has grown quickly.

The new Cardiff venue will feature eight indoor courts, allowing games to run all year round regardless of the weather. Professional coaching will also be available for players looking to learn the sport or improve their game.

But the venue is designed to be much more than just courts. Inside, players will find a players’ lounge, co-working space, kitchen, shop and bar, alongside a wellness area featuring two ice baths, exercise bikes and a large sauna overlooking the courts.

There will also be a DJ booth, helping create a lively atmosphere around the venue, along with a bar serving smoothies, juices and alcoholic drinks for those staying after a match.

Court hire will cost £60 during off-peak times and £70 during peak hours, with discounted rates available for members through monthly packages.

With its mix of sport, social space and wellness facilities, Padium is hoping to create a hub for the growing padel community in Cardiff. When the doors open in March, it could quickly become one of the city’s busiest new sporting spots.
