The UK’s most sustainable steak restaurant Gaucho is coming to Cardiff

Gaucho is set to open Cardiff’s most sustainable steak restaurant.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A new high-end, sustainably minded grill restaurant has submitted plans to open in the St David’s Dewi Sant shopping centre on the Hayes.

The Argentinian steak restaurant chain will serve exclusively ‘Carbon neutral beef and Argentine wine’ 

 

The website says “The Gaucho Carbon Footprint project was born from our awareness of the impact we have on the planet and our commitment to quality. It’s Argentine beef comes from cattle that graze at specially selected pampas farms with the equivalent of four rugby pitches worth of space per cow.”

Alongside the production of beef, transport from farm to table is also being mapped, allowing them to have complete overview of the supply chain and carbon footprint of their core product. [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”28243″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][vc_column_text]

The first restaurant opened in London in 1994, It now has 12 restaurants in London and regional sites in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham. It opened a restaurant in Edinburgh a few years ago, but this will be the groups first welsh venue and will be 100% carbon free.

 

On the Menu

According to its website Our restaurants continue to serve some of the finest beef in the world, now complemented by a broader food and wine offering in a contemporary setting, inspired by Modern Argentina and all of its global influences.”

A revamped menu last year featured new additions including swordfish causita, spiced purple potato, roasted pepper and torrentes cream sauce, new ceviche dishes such as tuna ceviche, with dulce de batata, sweet potato, chilli, tortilla, and shrimp ceviche.

Desserts include dulce de leche cheesecake and alfajores – an Argentine ice cream sandwich.

There’s no date announced for the opening of the restaurant yet but an application for a premises licence for the 56-57 St Davids Dewi Sant 19 The Hayes Cardiff CF10 1AH has been submitted to cardiff Council[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
