Franco Manca pizzeria plan to open a new restaurant in Cardiff

Sourdough Pizza restaurant chain, founded in London is set to open their first welsh branch in Cardiff.

Franco Manca has lodged new plans to covert the vacant unit at 5-10 church street Cardiff, which has already seen new restaurants and bars such as Santiago’s, Head of Steam and Mowgli’s and the Botanist later this year.

Franco Manca was born in London in 2008 when Giuseppe Mascoli and Bridget Hug took over an established pizzeria called Francos, housed in Brixton Market.

The name means ‘Franco is missing’ as a nod to the original owner Franco who sold his business to pair.

The company now has more than 40 restaurants across the UK, the majority of which are in London, with plans to open another in Fulham.

The Neapolitan pizzeria will offer customers a special slow-rising sourdough pizza with a choice of seven regular pizza options, including vegan and gluten free options available, starting from as little as £5 for Tomato, garlic and oregano!

The proposed site where pound stretched once stood is still under development, so no confirmed date of opening has been released.
