We get a first glimpse inside the latest venue to open at Cardiff Waterfront destination at Mermaid Quay.

The Club House, which boasts a holiday-themed bar and restaurant and is owned by the same company that owns the Botanist, currently has venues in Liverpool and Bristol and will open the doors of its third location to the public next week on Monday, August 29.

Spanning over two floors, it’s in a truly prime location and overlooks the harbour across to where the barrage meets Penarth. And its view links in with the elegant nautical theme that is seen throughout the venue.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1X6gA4nDWM” align=”center”][vc_column_text]Spanning over two floors, it’s in a truly prime location and overlooks the harbour across to where the barrage meets Penarth. And its view links in with the elegant nautical theme that is seen throughout the venue giving that feeling when you first arrive on holiday, where you leave the run-of-the-mill, real-world behind and your cares just slip away…

On the menu

The restaurant is famous for its hanging kebabs, which are available in a choice of chicken and chorizo, salt and pepper pork belly, lamb kofta or vegan meatball. All come served with properly seasoned fries and a sauce to drizzle over. Other options on the menu include a stacked crispy chicken burger and buffalo gravy dip and classics like ribeye steak served with lashings of béarnaise sauce.

Vegan diners can also choose from a tasty menu of options including super-greens houmous served with sundried tomato oil and grilled flatbread and the plant-based burger topped with vegan cheese, chilli jam, crispy oyster mushrooms and truffle mustard mayo.

To finish, you won’t be able to resist the indulgent baked cookie dough. Build your own by adding a choice of Oreo, Double Decker, Crunchie, Peanut M&M and Mint Aero toppings.

Sunday lunch is another mainstay of The Club House week – with roast sirloin of beef, roast chicken, pot roast lamb shoulder, slow-roast honey-glazed pork belly and celeriac, mushroom and pearl barley wellington to choose from. Roasts come served with a board of sides to share amongst the whole table – a good old knees up.

What’s to Drink

Known for imaginative creations, the brand’s cocktail menu aims to bring its unique, carefree style to life through taste. In-house experts have created unique pairings and refreshing concoctions, working with seasonal flavours such as rhubarb, orange blossom, banana liqueur and coconut puree.

Adding an element of fun and intrigue to the drinks, exciting serves and garnishes include an edible peach emoji topper, a shark gummy sweet garnish and a branded cool box full of beers to share with all your mates – just like you’re hitting the beach.

Split into five sections, Aperitivo, Golden Hour, Long Haul, Club Tropical and Slushies, particular highlights include the Slushies, which come served in a holiday-style cup, complete with a branded wooden spoon and tropical leaf garnish, the Bananarama, a unique and tropical mix of Duppy Share Spiced Rum, Amaretto, banana liqueur, golden syrup and pineapple juice and the boozy Club House Lemonade – it doesn’t get much more refreshing than that!

The cocktail menu also caters for non-alcoholic drinkers with options including the Club House Lemonade, Orange Blossom Americano and Rhubarb Rossini.

The bar has been busy recruiting local musicians ahead of its opening, who will be performing resident live music sets all night long every weekend. Good times are guaranteed!
