Dreygo the dragon makes Mermaid Quay its lair to celebrate St David’s Day

If you are looking for a fun and festive way to celebrate St David’s Day, head to Mermaid Quay on Saturday 2nd March for a free family friendly event featuring Dreygo the dragon and his adorable offspring.

Mermaid Quay, the waterfront destination in Cardiff Bay, is hosting a special event to mark the national day of Wales and showcase its Welsh culture and heritage. From 11am to 4pm, visitors can enjoy a range of activities and entertainment, including:

Dreygo, the horned Dragon
  • Meeting Dreygo the dragon and his baby dragon, who will roam around the quay and interact with the crowd. Dreygo is a stunning animatronic creature that can breathe smoke, flap its wings and make realistic sounds. Don’t miss this chance to see him up close and take some amazing photos.
  • Getting a free face painting for children, who can choose from a variety of designs, such as dragons, daffodils, leeks or Welsh flags. The face painting station will be located near the Pierhead Building.
  • Grabbing a free Welsh flag to wave and show your pride. The flags will be available at the Mermaid Quay information point, while stocks last.
  • Exploring the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants at Mermaid Quay, which offer a diverse selection of products and cuisines, from local delicacies to international flavours. Whether you are looking for a souvenir, a snack or a meal, you will find something to suit your taste and budget.
