Pop Up Cardiff, a foodie-cum-vintage-market that opened on Womanby street in 2014 is making a welcomed return at a brand new permanent venue!
Opening this Saturday in Canton behind the Corporation Pub. The Corporation Yard Food Market will be serving up a storm as summer continues to get back on track. The new permanent street food and market is brought to you by the team behind the pop-up Cardiff on Womanby street some years ago, this time they are going big to bring you everything you could want from a day out in the sun over the coming weeks. Maybe even a few cheeky nights out as well!
There will be several stalls offering resident and guest food vendors, 4 guests, 2 permanent a coffee and desserts stalls, and booze from a licenced bar. With plenty of choice for everyone to enjoy, you can sit around munching your grub and soaking in some of the events on over the weekends, like outdoor cinemas.
A huge marquee is being set up which will have seating for up to 140 guests, accommodating for the (let us face it) changeable Welsh weather. This is where will find the bar that will be open into the evenings. Everything will be table service via an app, as well as the booking service to reserve your tables. Like everywhere this summer, the food market will be COVID aware, with a one-way system and social distancing measures in place.
In the days, 14 market stalls will be open, as part of a brand new event, Indie Superstore. There will be all sorts on sale. Anything from old vinyl records to hardware and home cooked cakes. By night the stalls will be transformed into booths to sit in with your friends. Music will provide the soundtrack to your day and night, from Thursday to Sunday each weekend.
No word yet on which food vendors will be making an appearance but we have based on the usual world class quality of Cardiff’s street food regulars, you can bet they will be mouth-watering.
I do not know about you, but this sounds like another incredible edition to the new norm in Cardiff’s post-COVID scene in what is shaping up to be an unusual, but no less eventful, year of top-quality food and entertainment.
