One of Cardiff’s biggest Bonfire Night celebrations is returning this November, with Sophiaworks back at Sophia Gardens for 2026.
The annual fireworks event will take over the cricket ground on Thursday 5 November, bringing together a huge fireworks display, live music, family entertainment and street food in the heart of the city.
And if you’re planning on going, you might not want to leave it too late. Sophiaworks has sold out for the past five years.
Gates will open at 5pm, giving families plenty of time to get inside and enjoy the entertainment before the main fireworks display.
The Pavilion Lawn will become one of the main hubs for the evening, with live music and entertainment alongside a selection of street food traders serving food and drinks throughout the night.
Then, at 7pm, attention turns to the sky as the main fireworks display begins above Sophia Gardens.
The location has helped make Sophiaworks a popular Bonfire Night tradition in Cardiff, with the cricket ground sitting just a short walk from the city centre while still providing plenty of space for a large-scale display.
It also means visitors can make more of an evening of it rather than simply turning up for the fireworks, with food and entertainment taking place around the ground before the main event.
With five consecutive sell-outs behind it, another busy night is expected for 2026.
So, if watching a huge fireworks display light up the Cardiff skyline sounds like your way to spend Bonfire Night, it’s probably worth getting tickets sorted sooner rather than later.
