Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival Returns

The award-winning festival returns for another year to inspire young readers

Cardiff’s much-loved Children’s Literature Festival which started in 2013 is making a grand return this March, bringing a week of storytelling magic, creativity, and inspiration to young book lovers across the city. Running from Monday, March 24th to Sunday, March 30th, the festival will feature award-winning authors and illustrators, including Emma Carroll, Jack Meggitt-Phillips, Sioned Wyn Roberts, Rob Biddulph, and Maz Evans.

The week kicks off with free events for Cardiff schools, offering children a chance to meet their literary heroes and spark a lifelong love for reading. The weekend will then open up to the public with ticketed events on Saturday and Sunday, giving families the opportunity to enjoy storytelling sessions, illustration workshops, and interactive talksfrom some of the biggest names in children’s literature.

Councillor Jennifer Burke, Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Events, highlighted the festival’s importance, saying:
“Getting to hear direct from the authors and illustrators who create their favourite stories is a brilliant way to get kids excited and engaged with reading.”

Events will take place at various locations across the city, including the National Museum Wales, Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, and the Museum of Cardiff. With more events still being added, families are encouraged to book their tickets early.
