Calling all wannabe Colombo’s

Wannabe sleuths wanted to take part in live detective game

An interactive gaming experience is returning to Cardiff on the 11th and 12th August and we are giving away 2 tickets to join in the hunt.

FOR Cardiff has teamed up with game makers, Casefile, to bring their new adventure, Appearance of the Obeli, to the city centre.

Following the success of last year’s event with over 200 players participating, the new game, which will see Cardiff turned into a life-size board game, has been expanded into a two-day event.

Game players can group together in teams of two to six to examine the case-file, hunt down clues, question real live witnesses, and solve ingenious puzzles as they pit their wits against an evil force linked to one of Cardiff’s own, John Crichton-Stuart the 2nd Marquess of Bute. The aim is to solve a centuries old mystery and save an innocent person in the process.

FOR Cardiff has supported the event as part of its work to bring more visitors into the city centre. Adrian Field, FOR Cardiff Executive Director, comments: “Finding fun and different ways to spend the day with friends and family can be a challenge. Last year’s Casefile game made a real change from the usual kind of event held in Cardiff and people really responded to that. We hope players will all find at least one of our hidden local gems that they didn’t know about before.”

While the main investigation takes between two to three hours to complete, players are encouraged to play over the weekend, stopping and starting when they wish, and taking time to see the city from a different angle and enjoy all it has to offer.

There is also a dedicated children’s trail for any budding junior detectives, making it the perfect day out for all the family.

Head puzzle-master Stephen Blackwell said: “This time I think we’ve upped the ante, adding more actors, more puzzles and some little ‘missions’ that players need to complete as they go.

“Casefile gets players using their body and brain in equal measures and having a lot of fun along the way. Cardiff, with its great mix of heritage buildings and independent businesses, really is the perfect location for our games.”

Ticket prices are £12 for adults, with accompanied under 12-year-olds are free. There are also discounted team tickets available at £50 for six players.
