Bronwen Lewis to perform at Half Time when Wales Women host France

Welsh rugby ambassador and music artist Bronwen Lewis to perform at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday as Wales Women host France

singer, songwriter Bronwen Lewis will perform her track, ‘POWER’ at Wales’ Guinness Women’s Six Nations fifth round match against France this Sunday.

The original song written by Bronwen specially for the Wales squad ahead of their 2024 Guinness Six Nations campaign has become an anthem for the team and this Sunday will be the first time the song has been performed live.

Challenged by BBC Radio Wales to create a song to inspire the team ahead of their campaign, Bronwen travelled to the squad’s training ground and sat down with captain Hannah Jones and Gwenllian Pyrs to discuss what bonds them as a team and why being brave is so important.

Some of the themes and even the very words from that meeting were transformed into inspirational lyrics, packed with meaning. “It was such a pressure” said Bronwen, speaking to players following the first play of the track to the team.

“I wanted to take things that you had told me, and lines that you had said and things that were important to you.  Part of the song is on the backs of those that paved the way, we look onto the one’s that’ll be here someday. You said about looking at the young girls in the stadium and wanting to inspire them and remind them of how far we’ve come.”

Ahead of her performance, which will take place at halftime this weekend, Bronwen said, “I can’t wait to get out there this Sunday and perform POWER for the first time live to the team and the crowd.  It’s been an incredible journey and I’m so proud of this squad and this song. I’d like to thank the players for being so candid which enabled me to bring the lyrics and the song to life.

“Never underestimate the power of a woman – C’mon Cymru!”

A small number of tickets to watch Wales’ penultimate match of the championship against France at Cardiff Arms Park are still available now, with some also expected to be available on matchday to a walk in crowd, from £5 via wru.wales/tickets
