Mermaid Quay is set to welcome the newest member of the Brains family – The Dock, which opens its doors to the public on Friday 22nd April (with a sneak preview on the 21st at 19:00pm)

Previously the location of Terra Nova, The Dock is certainly the place to be when visiting the Bay. With its beautifully designed interior coupled with a wonderful waterfront setting, it is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a fabulous cocktail (or ten!), which have been specially created by their experienced mixologists.

The menu offers a wide variety of “world flavours inspired by the heritage of The Docks”, with dishes ranging from gourmet burgers to ramen bowls and everything in between. They will also be serving breakfast, keeping on trend with their very own version of smashed avocado on toast and delicious fruity granola just to name a few.

Head chef Nathan is truly passionate about food and his desire to serve hearty, wholesome dishes is certainly clear. Having previously worked for Michelin star restaurateur Marco Pierre White, he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to making excellent food. However, it is his down-to-earth personality and genuine love of good grub which has helped him to create a menu that caters for everyone.

Bruce Newman, Head of Marketing for Brains, that owns The Dock said: “Over the past decade, Cardiff Bay has established itself as a vibrant location and we’re now in a brilliant position to introduce something completely new to the area.

“With exciting world flavours and dishes, and mouth-watering twists on old classics, the menus will offer something unique, not just for the Bay but for the whole city.

This distinctive food and drink offering, coupled with its iconic waterside location with stunning views across the Bay, will help position it as the go-to venue at the very heart of Mermaid Quay.

“The Dock will be unlike anything else the area has to offer but more importantly, will be entirely in keeping with Cardiff Bay’s important cultural and industrial heritage.”

The Dock will be a flagship business for Brains and, after the launch of The Cambrian Tap in Cardiff City Centre last year, is the latest in a range of new venues the business is opening.

Wholesale redesign has seen an island bar placed in the centre of the ground floor with a 32-foot back bar display that cuts through to the first floor carrying atmosphere and light into the first floor. Outside, an enclosed area of waterside seating has been created, affording customers exceptional views of the surrounding areas.

The Dock offers a fine dining experience in an informal and friendly setting, serving food that has been made with love, care and complete affection.
