Following their huge headline performances at Reading and Leeds this summer, it felt like a return to Wales was written on the wall for Fontaines D.C.
And now it’s official.
Having sold out their entire UK arena tour this morning, Fontaines D.C. have announced their biggest-ever headline shows, including a massive outdoor date in Cardiff.
The five-date run will take the Irish band across the UK in summer 2027, and they’re kicking the whole thing off right here in Cardiff with a huge show at Blackweir Fields on Tuesday 29 June 2027.
Fontaines D.C. will be joined in Cardiff by an impressive supporting line-up, with Little Simz and The Dare also set to perform at Blackweir Fields.
The announcement follows a huge summer for the Dublin band, which included headline performances at Reading and Leeds Festivals.
There was even a little South Wales connection during their Reading set, with the band taking to the stage wearing a Cwmbran Celtic football shirt, something that certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Welsh fans.
Now they’ll be heading to the capital for what is set to be one of Cardiff’s biggest outdoor shows of summer 2027.
The Blackweir Fields date will be the first show of Fontaines D.C.’s huge UK tour, before the band continues on to Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and London.
The announcement is also another major show for Blackweir Fields, which has quickly established itself as one of Cardiff’s newest large-scale outdoor music venues.
Fontaines D.C. have become one of the biggest alternative bands to emerge from Ireland in recent years, progressing from smaller venues and festival stages to headlining some of the UK’s biggest outdoor shows.
With Little Simz and The Dare joining them in Cardiff, the opening night of the tour already looks set to be one of the standout dates in the city’s 2027 live music calendar.
