Legally Blond The Musical is Here

The iconic 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon, has become a fresh stage production directed by Nikolai Foster (the brains behind the recent Kinky Boots tour). It comes with all original music, plenty of pink and Omigod You Guys, it is one to get down to the Bay for.

“This ultimate feel-good rom-com, based on the award-winning film starring Reese Witherspoon, follows Elle Woods on her transformation from It Girl fashionista to legal ace at Harvard Law School, all in the name of love.

Elle must prove she is more than blonde ambition, swap the changing rooms for the courtroom and learn that ‘being true to yourself never goes out of style.’” legallyblondeshow.com

There are two main stars worth getting tickets for and both have four legs. The most perfectly trained dogs appear throughout the show and not one made a mistake. Pro pets for sure.

Amber Davies (Strictly Come Dancing, Pretty Woman) is starring as Elle and she gains more and more depth and dimension as the show goes on. Her voice is as always impeccable and she  surprises me with how much power she has for such a small dainty lady.

Sets and costumes are incredibly bright and pink, as expected, and are enhanced by the audience being filled with big blonde blow outs and pink outfits.

Paulette is one of my favourite characters in the movie and her Bend and Snap routine was one I was very much looking forward to. Karen Mavundukure played Paulette quite differently to how I was expecting, but oh my goodness she is good. Her voice, in the last few moments of her first big song, Ireland,  had me nudging my friend to say “Just wow”.

There is a great cast for this tour and no one drops the ball at all which makes it extremely easy and enjoyable watching, but if you go for anything, let it be the song There!Right There! There is not a chance this scene will not have you laughing. The line “Is he gay or European” is iconic in itself.

If you loved the movie then you will love this. Legally Blonde is running at the Wales Millennium Centre until Saturday, June 20th, 2026.
