Cardiff Bay is set to be transformed into a world of spooks, thrills and family fun this autumn as Halloween Island, a brand-new festival, lands at Alexandra Head from 25–31 October 2025.
Previously held on farmland at Coedarhydyglyn Park near Culverhouse Cross, last year’s Halloween festival proved a huge hit despite wet weather and tricky ground conditions. This year, the creative team is reimagining the event on the city’s iconic waterfront, promising a more accessible location with breathtaking maritime views.
The immersive journey begins at Mermaid Quay, where visitors can board the Ghost Ship ferry across Cardiff Bay to the festival entrance. Alternatively, families can stroll along the Bay Barrage Trail, adding to the sense of adventure before reaching the event.
Unlike previous years, there will be no pumpkin patch or adult-only scare attraction, but the programme has expanded to include an impressive mix of live shows, trails, creative zones and interactive activities for all ages.
Daytime highlights include Jack & Luna: The Curse of Halloween Island, a magical theatrical show, while Slime It Live! and Potion Commotion promise laughs, mess and science-meets-sorcery fun. Younger visitors can explore Pumpkin Village, enjoy the Tiny Pumpkins’ Play Patch, or get messy in the Ghostly Graffiti zone.
As the sun sets, Halloween Island transforms into an enchanting twilight world with fire shows, glowing pumpkins, owl encounters, and the haunting harmonies of the Salem Sisters.
Halloween Island runs from Saturday 25 to Friday 31 October at Alexandra Head, Cardiff Bay. Tickets are available now via the official website.
